Wish List - Download our 2015 Wishlist Here.

At C.A.R.E. we rely soley on the generosity of caring individuals and volunteers to ensure the animals get the best standards of husbandry and are kept in good health.  With so many aspects of running a successful organisation we are always in the need of supplies; administration, veterinary, food/treats (for baboons and volunteers), baby products, maintenance tools and supplies, transport, capture & emergency kits.  If you want to help us here are a few of the things we need, there are even links to websites where you can order the products and have them sent to us as a donated gift.

Priority Items - relatively easy to find, achievable items...

Lots of people ask what they can bring with them when they come to visit or volunteer... whilst there are many things we need, the following are a few things we tend to use most often and relatively achievable for most people to find near to their homes.

1) Teats!  Teats! Teats!  Standard size, no wider than 40cm.

2) Protexin - it's a probiotic and one of our favourite items used daily.  SO HELPFUL!

3) Premature baby, size 1 and size 2 nappies (diapers) for our youngest orphans!

4) Antibiotics - amoxycilin/amoxyclav/batril/synulox,  IV metronidazole and others.... always useful and if the animal in need of help is large (15-35kg) you can imagine how quickly we use these.

5) Plates, cups, mugs, utensils, bowls and metal water bowls.... we need!  Yes please!

6) IV fluids

7) 21G - 23G needles and catheters (used all the time)

8) Dewormers - panacur, droncit, ivermectin - injectable/oral - yes please!!  You'd be a hero!

9) Tools - hammers, pliars, saws and power tools; drills, angle grinders!  We need!

10) Pens and whiteboard markers - easy to find and used daily here!  Definitely wanted!

Priority Items -more of the difficult to get, expensive items...

The following are a few things which are more expensive and difficult to get here in South Africa

1) 2 Way Radios - needed!

2)  DSLR Camera with lenses/equipment - essential for our marketing

3) Quality Tools - branch-cutters, power tools; drills, angle grinders!  We need!

4) Implants - Implanon and Suprelorin.... if you can get these then you made our year!

5) Laptops or tablets - essential for daily admin and also research offsite

6) Solar chargers (the larger kind to charge radios/laptops and phones whilst out at the release sites

7) Battery packs - items that can hold a few hours of charge (for release equipment)

8) Home supplies - fridges, freezers, microwaves, washing machines (they don't last too long and are a nightmare to get fixed in South Africa; often meaning routine problems that you will get in another country will end up costing more to fix than buying another machine here in South Africa).  Please if you have money saved, think about taking a trip to the nearby town here and buying us a new large item

9) Dewormers (on the list above too - but it's really what we need!) - panacur (big bottle of the cattle oral suspension), droncit, ivermectin - injectable/oral - yes please!!  You'd be a hero!
