Baboon Documentaries
Baboons Wade Through Water
Sir David Attenborough and the natural history team behind BBC natural world epic 'Planet Earth' examine life on the Great Plains in this animal video. Watch as the African plains move from a desert wasteland to a world of feast and plenty with so much water flowing onto the barren ground that the baboons are forced to wade uncomfortably through the water.
Zambezi River
Wildlife documentary. A tale of life on the Zambezi River, set against the epic backdrop of Victoria Falls. The story is told from the point of view of a local fisherman, Mr White, who has fished these waters for 69 years, and whose riverside companions are elephants, baboons, hippos and kingfishers. Follow the fortunes of these animals through his eyes, and learn how their lives are ruled by the moods of the river and the rains.
Gelada Baboons
Filmed in the Ethiopian highlands.
Following years of research, the intimacies of this female- led group of baboons, are dramatically revealed.
Almost every day for the past 25 years, the Viramba troop of yellow baboons have been accompanied by scientists in one of the most extensive primate research projects ever conducted.
The Chacma Baboon
This is a video of the chacma baboon taken from the BBC's new "Life" documentary series
NATURE - Murder in the Troop
When a large male from a neighboring baboon troop stages a coup, power shifts and leadership changes hands throwing the established social order of the troop into turmoil. This tale unfolds on NATURE's Murder in the Troop. For more information, visit http://www.pbs.org/nature
The politics of monkey harems, and their uncanny reflections of our own human society. Great footage from BBC show Clever Monkeys.
In nature it is survival of the fittest. A leopard is one of the greatest predators of the baboon aside from ourselves. This leopard kills a baboon and then finds a tiny baby attached to the kill.
For a while the protective and nurturing instincts of the leopard come out, whilst both animals do not know how to react to their situation. However, without milk to feed the infant it eventually perishes.
The little orphan is crying, a noise which for anyone that knows the baboons will listen with a broken heart.
