CARE BABOON REHABILITATION CENTRE

SANCTUARY & REHABILITATION FOR RELEASE

We are the Centre for Animal Rehabilitation and Education!  We are mainly a team of experienced volunteers who are passionate about caring for and conserving South Africa's wildlife specialising in baboons!

We were established in 1989 and have released over 12 rehabilitated troops of baboons and a myriad of other smaller wildlife species.  We specialise in rehabilitation for release of our beautiful baboons and other small indigenous wildlife, on the riverside of the Olifants River in Limpopo South Africa.

The Rehabilitation Centre, established by the late Founder Rita Miljo and bequeathed to her trusted assistant Stephen Munro, was established with the momentum of a simple question;

“Why wait until a species is on the brink of extinction before we try to help?”

C.A.R.E., located in the heart of a "Big 5 Nature Reserve" between Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa, bordering the Kruger National Park South Africa, is a wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary dedicated to the care, welfare, rehabilitation and protection of injured and orphaned indigenous wild animals.  Featured on Animal Planet, ITV, Carte Blanche and in other media, C.A.R.E. is renowned for the vital, life-saving and pioneering work with wildlife.

LEARN ABOUT HOW

YOU CAN HELP

Help us to make a difference today.

C.A.R.E. has been a pioneer in the rehabilitation and release of chacma baboons for over 29 years along with helping other small animals and small birds too.

Freedom is the end goal for all the incredible beings that need our help, but for our dear elderly residents and most psychologically damaged individuals; we offer a permanent home, a sanctuary.

We believe that all animals, no-matter how small or large deserve respect and to live harmoniously with us humans.  We pledge that we will help as and when we are called.  From the smallest bird, to South Africa's largest primate; the charasmatic and misunderstood baboon, we will help and we care!

We have an extensive wildlife "friends" network to help with transport and welcome all the support and assistance offered.

We run solely on the generosity of wonderful people and supporters - like you!  Our Volunteer Programme along with donations, funds the vital, life-saving and pioneering work that we do!

Looking for a Career Opportunity?
