How Much Does it Cost and What's Included?

Volunteering with primates in a Big 5 Nature Reserve is a unique experience, but please remember, this is no holiday; we are a working rehabilitation centre and need your help to make a real difference.

We ask all volunteers to make a non-refundable donation contribution to the centre.  C.A.R.E. receives no government assistance and doesn’t have any real sponsors which help with the day to day costs of caring for the animals.  The Volunteer Program is what funds the centre, helping us to become financially independent,  sustainable and secure; which is essential for us to be able to care for just under 450 large animals.  The donation you pay not only covers the costs of housing and feeding you at the centre, but it also pays for the care of the animals you are going to be working with.  The Volunteer Program has been in operation since the 90’s and has funded the growth of the centre since then, we have just built brand-new volunteer accommodation (built for 2017+) and excited to welcome you to our dedicated team of professionals.

VOLUNTEER NON-REFUNDABLE DONATION: All payments are non-refundable and treated as a donation.

If you are coming to C.A.R.E. via an outside agent they will provide you with the payment information.

For those booking directly with C.A.R.E. the following information will help you pay your volunteer donation;

Your Weekly Contribution;

* $350 per week for the first 4 weeks

* $300 per week after 4 weeks taking up to 16 weeks

* $250 per week up to 6 months

* $200 per week thereafter

The minimum volunteer time is 4 weeks due to the sensitive nature of our infant primates.  If you think you would qualify for a shorter stay due to work commitments, get in touch; info@primatecare.org.za

COUPLE AND FRIENDS DISCOUNT: If you book to come together as a couple, or friends, we give a 25% discount if you book at the same time!

What's Included?

The weekly contribution includes your accommodation (this is in the newly built 'Volunteer Village', usually shared, single rooms are charged a supplement), resource use (electricity and water; yes hot showers and flushing toilets are part of the deal!) breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided as part of this contribution, full on-the-job training is provided, data-collection training and  some class-based learning is also included.

a. Bank transfer: we have a UK and South African bank account and will provide these details after your successful application has been received.

b. PayPal

Another easy way to donate to C.A.R.E. is via PayPal.  If you go to www.PayPal.com, under the Transfer tab you will see 'send someone money'.  It is a secure site and we have never had any problems.  Our fundraising email address for PayPal: donate2carebaboons@gmail.com.  The website itself changes slightly regularly but the concept of sending is usually easy to navigate; it will then take you through how to set up so that you can send money asking for your card details etc.  Be sure to chose “gift” or “friends and family” option over service, this minimises all fees.

However, please note that PayPal charge at least 10% commission/transfer fee, so if using PayPal kindly add the 10% to your donation to ensure the baboons get the full donation.

If you have any trouble please let us know and please tell us when you have made the transfer by sending us the Proof of Payment to info@primatecare.org.za
