Information about baboons....

Curious, cheeky, charming, intelligent, adaptive, playful, attentive, determined, persistent, resourceful, dramatic, theatrical and disciplined.... these words pretty much describe baboons, albeit it in the most basic, anthropomorphic way.  Anyone that really knows baboons though, will confirm that this description fits them well and wasn't it decided since the 60's when Dr. Jane Goodall began studying the chimpanzees, that it really is ok to attribute descriptions we once thought of as 'human', onto the fellow beings we share our planet with?  After all, we are only another primate, sadly the most destructive primate of all the primates.

If you can imagine all the human emotions and the raw, instinctive reactions to those emotions dramatised times ten you would pretty much sum up the baboon repotoire of behaviours.  They are so interesting.  So much like us in so many ways, yet their appearance so wild and primative.  Baboons are well adapted for living in the savannah, having to be clever and equipped to deal with living besides leopards, lions and crocodiles... and of course their biggest predator: man.
